5 October 2007 17:21

The leader of the Conservative party David Cameron has announced new plans governing the rolling-out of flexible working, it has emerged.

According to reports, Mr Cameron has announced plans during the Conservative party conference - as part of his aim of turning the Conservative party into the "party of the family" - to ensure all parents are able to ask their employer to participate in a flexible working scheme.

"I don't just want to give people a tax cut, I want to give people a time increase," said Mr Cameron.

"That is why I think it's time to say to all employees in all companies with children that you should have the right to ask for flexible working," he added.

Member of Parliament for Whitney since 2001, Mr Cameron was appointed leader of the main opposition party in December 2005.
