FSB issues employment law warning

24 September 2007 17:52

It is vital that small business bosses, including those in the marketing and sales fields, are fully aware about all things related to employment law, according to the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB).

The organisation states that some larger firms may have set procedures in place regarding the matter, but smaller companies may not have the resources available deal with some of the issues surrounding dismissals.

Commenting on the employment law, FSB spokesperson Belinda Webb said: "It's not just important - it's absolutely vital that the law is adhered to, because it saves further problems down the line.

"And the only way they can do that, a lot of the time, is by joining an organisation and having access to a legal helpline."

Some small businesses may not have the funds available to check with their solicitors whenever they "need clarity on a situation", she added.

With over 205,000 members, the FSB campaigns to protect the interests of the self-employed and small-business owners in the UK.
