Though the financial departments of many companies are in need of skilled workers, many chief financial officers (CFO) have no discernable recruitment strategy to attract them, according to Deloitte.
The accountancy firm, one of the so-called "big four" released the results of survey recently which showed that few financial officers were making retention and recruitment a priority.
A full third of all the CFO's surveyed admitted that they were having trouble finding and keeping skilled staff.
The report stated: "Branding tops the list, especially among CFOs (75 per cent), of valuable strategies for companies to use in attracting finance talent and yet only 33 per cent of respondents agree their own finance organization markets finance as an attractive career option."
Furthermore, companies are neglecting to take advantage of graduate pool of talent that is available, the study found.
A full 35 per cent of the CFOs surveyed said that many graduates do not see their company's finance section as a good place to star their career.
