Accountants rated favourite employers by graduates

13 September 2007 17:27

Graduates have rated accountancy firms at their favoured employers, according to new UK rankings.

The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers for 2007 places three accountancy firms at the top of the list, Accountancy magazine reports.

PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte and KPMG are in first, second and third places respectively, which may reflect the continual popularity of accountancy jobs with graduates.

Meanwhile, Ernst & Young has shown a slight rise to 11th place from its showing at number 14 in the 2006 rankings.

The Times list is compiled from more than 17,000 interviews with students who finished university in summer 2007.

These findings follow research from the Institute of Education which revealed that accountancy graduates can earn 40 per cent more than their counterparts with arts degrees.

Additionally, the study found that graduates seem to be drawn towards pursuing degrees which can provide them with a high salary.
