Internet 'has changed the nature of recruitment'

12 September 2007 16:47

Recruitment has been transformed by the use of the internet, according to comments from the Association of Professional Recruitment Consultants (APRC).

Peter Clayton, chief executive of the APRC, said that the use of the web to find candidates has had a "dramatic" effect on recruitment.

He explained that those who are looking for new positions, which may include marketing jobs, can achieve quick responses from using the internet as a way to reach employers.

Mr Clayton explained that this migration to online recruitment stands in stark contrast to the past, saying: "When you think it was all advertising in magazines and newspapers and the timeframes were much longer, now a good candidate can get an interview [more quickly].

"You can put your CV on at ten o'clock that night before you go to bed and have an interview by lunchtime the following day."

Research conducted last year by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development revealed that two-thirds of organisations utilise online recruitment in some respect.
