ACCA announces exam results success

29 August 2007 19:00

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) has announced the exam results for the June 2007 sitting and revealed that 6,000 students - the largest number ever - have successfully completed all their professional examinations and achieved affiliate status of ACCA.

A record number of candidates sat the ACCA exams in June, with 154,716 students taking 344,007 papers at 342 exam centres in 133 countries worldwide. The majority of candidates were from a corporate background.

This was the last time that candidates will take the ACCA's old-style professional exam, which is being replaced in December this year by a new ACCA qualification that has a fresh focus on ethics and professionalism.

Clare Minchington, ACCA's managing director of education, learning and development, said: "The numbers of students gaining affiliate status is extremely heartening and we hope to see this grow further in the future.

"Yet again, these results show solid performance, with excellent percentage pass rates not only in a traditional examination such as the business taxation paper at 60 per cent but also in the strategic business planning and development paper at 55 per cent, surely a sign that candidates are getting to grips with the vital issues for 21st century accountants."
