Work-life balance 'needs to be addressed'

29 August 2007 16:51

A resounding majority of recruiters believe that the issue of a work-life balance needs more attention in order to engage younger job-seekers, according to a new study.

Research from the Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR) reveals that more than 90 per cent of respondents believe this topic needs to be addressed.

Additionally, 70 per cent said that graduates are mostly or entirely realistic in their job aspirations, which may be good news to those seeking marketing jobs and other positions.

Carl Gilleard, chief executive of the AGR, explained how the organisation's annual conference focused on the recruitment needs of 'generation Y'.

"Our survey shows that recruiters are adapting to the changing needs of this group of graduates, looking at new and alternative methods for recruitment and adapting their practices to remain competitive and avoid letting the best talent slip through the net," he said.

Recently, a report by the Institute for Employment Studies suggested that many graduates in the UK planned to relocate to London to find a job.
