Shell to create 150 accountancy jobs

17 August 2007 19:00

Shell has announced that it is expanding its financial service operation in Glasgow, which will lead to the creation of 150 accountancy jobs.

The operation, which opened in 1998 in Glasgow, already employs 500 staff to provide accounting services to Shell's businesses globally.

Earlier this year, Shell was informed that it would receive a £1 million regional selective assistance grant over two years with the creation of 100 jobs in its Glasgow financial services operation.

Last year, the Scottish Executive agreed to fund part of the start-up cost of up to £1.3 million, dependent on the number of jobs actually created.

Alistair MacWilliam, the centre's general manager, told The Herald: "I am extremely grateful to the Scottish Executive for the award and for the ongoing support we receive from Scottish Enterprise and I am pleased that Shell will contribute even more to the level and quality of Glasgow's growing financial services sector."
