KPMG survey reveals buoyant job market

A report by KPMG and the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has revealed that average salaries and the number of people in permanent employment have soared to nine and seven-year highs respectively.
In spite of the buoyant labour market, the survey also highlighted a shortage in skills, which is preventing recruiters from finding suitable candidates for work.
KPMG partner Michael Carter said: "July's survey results continue to reflect a buoyant labour market.
"The availability of staff has deteriorated at the fastest pace for over two years and employers need to continue to be creative in their recruitment strategies."
Helen Reynolds, acting chief executive of the REC, said: "This month's Report on Jobs shows that permanent placements are growing faster than ever as we enter the traditionally quiet summer months."
