PwC increases Indian presence

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) plans to increase accountancy jobs and double its employee base in Kolkata, India, over the next four years.
The big four accountancy firm currently employs 1,000 workers in Kolkata but this is set to double to over 2,000, reports Rediff.com.
The company is also aiming to double its national employee numbers over the next four year. It currently has 4,500 employees nationwide.
PwC chairman N Ramesh Rajan said: "Going forward we expect our Indian team to enter into global management for projects.
"So far, we have had overseas teams managing and coordinating projects while the Indian team executed it. We anticipate a role reversal soon."
Mr Rajan also highlighted that PwC is to invest in the development of its crisis management services.
"With more and more corporates asking for crisis management services of us, we plan to invest in training employees for this vertical as well as recruit more. At present, we have close to 60 employees for crisis management in India."
