ACA launched in the Gulf

The Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) qualification, which is recognised across the world as a leading financial business standard, has been launched in the Gulf.

According to the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW), there are already close to 500 people with accountancy jobs in the region that hold the qualification and have an ICAEW membership, but it has not been taught locally before.

Commenting at the launch, Richard Dyson, president of the ICAEW, said: "As the Gulf becomes a world leading financial centre, there is an increasing demand from businesses for highly-skilled accountancy professionals who are fully conversed with international practices.

"Following consultation with key stakeholders in the region, the ICAEW believes it can meet this need."

He added that the ACA qualification is associated with a variety of positive things, such as technical rigour, ethical grounding, transparency and "producing business leaders of tomorrow".

Last month, the ICAEW announced that it is to collaborate with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan in order to provide global opportunities and strengthen ties.
