A Britain-based accountant has been jailed for illegally obtaining funds, it has emerged.
According to reports, Sharon Bridgewater has been jailed for a total of five years after being found guilty of the theft of more than £2 million.
Her partner was found guilty of perverting the course of justice and of "furnishing false information" and was awarded a suspended sentence.
Over her entire history, in addition to defrauding her company out of a total of £2 million, a further £55,000 was stolen from a company specialising in radio recording and an additional £25,000 was taken from a computer business.
"Her actions led to the collapse of a company and the near collapse of two more companies," said Detective Sergeant Dom Lucas.
"[The sentence] proves that such excessive greed and blatant disregard for her victims would eventually catch up with her," he added.
