Employers across the UK are increasingly offering flexible working arrangements to staff, it has emerged.
According to reports by the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR), flexible working arrangements are increasingly being offered as a way of retaining existing members of staff, in addition to securing new ones.
A number of different working strategies can come under flexible working, including job sharing and home working.
"The way we work is changing and in many cases, it is changing to fit in with people's lives," said Pat McFadden, UK minister for employment relations.
"More people want to balance work with family and lifestyle and more employers are increasingly recognising that flexibility helps retain good staff," he added.
Indeed, the results of a recent survey commissioned by the BERR has identified that varying forms of flexible working arrangements are offered by a majority (95 per cent) of Britain's workplaces.
