Report shows weak business confidence in Wales

Business confidence in Wales is more fragile when compared with other parts of the UK, it has been claimed.
According to the results of a study by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), the business confidence of professionals within the finance sector has fallen by a total of four points when compared with the third quarter of the year, reports the Western Mail.
"The ongoing unstable international economic situation and recent domestic events, such as Northern Rock, are having direct impact on the moods of Welsh businesses, making them pessimistic about their prospects for the coming year," said David Lermon, director of the ICAEW in Wales.
Published in the organisation's latest Business Confidence Monitor, data shows a confidence drop from -1.2 to -5.2 between the third and fourth quarters of 2007.
The ICAEW was established in 1880.
