The UK government has announced new plans to ease the bureaucratic burdens on business, it has emerged.
According to reports, by 2010 the government intends to reduce levels of red tape by 30 per cent.
The new proposals were released by John Hutton, the secretary for business, in a report entitled Delivering Simplification Plans.
Among the proposed measures are plans to dispose of a number of health and safety documents which result in the duplication of information, in addition to e-enablement of close to 500,000 business planning applications.
"Today's plans demonstrate we are making significant headway on what is a difficult and challenging agenda," said Mr Hutton.
"But we are not complacent. The government must continue to back up its proposals with credible action across all sectors," he added.
In total, the government is planning on the delivery of over 280 bureaucracy-killing initiatives, all of which are outlined in the report.
