Female jobseekers in Western Australia (WA) may be interested to read that more women in the region are becoming senior managers.
John Nicolaou, chief economist at the WA Chamber of Commerce and Industry, told the Australian that the proportion of businesses with greater numbers of women than men in high-level roles has increased from 18 per cent in 1997 to 28 per cent today.
Overall, there are now 30 per cent more women in senior positions in WA than there were a decade ago, he added - a trend he attributed to positive growth in the local economy.
"The boom has been creating opportunities for everyone but with so much demand, it's had particular benefits for women," Mr Nicolaou commented.
Earlier this month, the Australian Bureau of Statistics released new figures suggesting that employment levels in the country soared by 52,600 jobs in November compared with the previous month.
