Staff 'urged' to get benefits in full

2 January 2008 17:06

The UK's workforce is being urged to ensure it is getting its full entitlement of benefits when taking a new job over the course of the year.

According to reports by Personnel Today, the government's minister for employment, Pat McFadden, believes that employees should ensure they are aware of the full breadth of their rights.

Moreover, Mr McFadden believes that those not looking for a new employer can also use this information to ensure their existing contractual terms fully reflect the rights now afforded to employees.

"People deserve decent working standards - a minimum wage, the right to paid holidays and the right to work in a safe environment," said Mr McFadden.

"We want to make sure that workers know what rights they have when applying for a new job, or they can check their existing conditions are up to scratch," he added.

Mr McFadden is also the MP for Wolverhampton south-east, a West Midlands-based constituency.
