Job vacancies in Australia are on the increase, new data suggests.
Data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), an organisation established in 1974, for November 2007 shows that the total number of job vacancies across the country increased by 4.2 per cent, when compared with August 2007.
Over the same period, public sector vacancy levels increased by four per cent.
"The ABS has implemented an improved method of producing seasonally adjusted estimates for the Job Vacancies Survey, through the application of Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average modelling techniques," said the ABS.
Private sector vacancies also increased by 4.2 per cent to 162,900.
Before the creation of the ABS, data was collated by the Commonwealth Bureau of Census and Statistics, in partnership with individual states.
The organisation publishes a wide range of statistics on a number of different topics, including income, inflation, religion and alcohol consumption.
