Accountancy firm may be 'preferred choice' of FA

17 January 2008 17:42

It is believed that England's Football Association (FA) could be looking for an accountancy firm for the completion of a number of audits.

Reports by the Telegraph suggest that, despite the drafting of a shortlist, the FA may wish an accountancy firm to conduct a number of deal inspections.

One of the firms on the list, Quest, is an agency specialising in forensic intelligence.

Chaired by Lord Stevens of Kirkwhelpington, there are concerns that the firm is too close to the Premier League.

"More than two weeks after the transfer window opened for business, there is still no sign of an announcement from the [FA] on the identity of the company which will carry out an independent audit on a random number of deals," said David Bond in the Telegraph.

Established in 1863, the FA is also football's governing organisation in the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey.
