Expert highlights opportunities in Asia

An expert from Deloitte has highlighted the potential benefits of Asia, not only for his firm, but also for the UK as a whole.

According to reports by Accountancy Age, the chief executive of Deloitte John Connolly announced his belief that the region's economic growth offers the potential for payback.

Moreover, both in terms of numbers and academic performance, Mr Connolly confirmed his view that newly-qualified accountants from China are "impressive".

"With Asia being the most dynamic region in the world, there are huge opportunities for the UK," said Mr Connolly.

"The visit by UK government and business leaders is intended to build on the special relationships that already exist between the nations and to capitalise on opportunities."

Mr Connolly made his comments on a trip to India and China, with UK prime minister Gordon Brown.

Deloitte was established in 1845.
