Britain's line managers are 'looking elsewhere'

23 January 2008 16:57

A number of the UK's line managers are currently looking for other employment opportunities, it has been claimed.

The results of a study, conducted by research firm Roffey Park, established in 1946, show that a total of 47 per cent of the UK's managers are contemplating changing their role, reports Personnel Today.

However, 12 per cent of managers are presently looking for work within their existing place of work.

"The organisational culture and environment is becoming more controlling than may be available elsewhere," said one of the study's respondents.

Roffey Park's findings were based upon the responses of 479 individuals.

A number of motivating factors were cited as being a factor in the decision to look elsewhere, including an absence of job security and a desire for career development.

Roffey Park conducts work, not just in the private sector, but also in the not-for-profit and private spheres.
