A student in Wales has been recognised as the "best accountancy student in the world", it has emerged.

According to reports by the Pontypridd Observer, Sally James has been awarded the title following exams that make up a professional qualification in accountancy.

Ms James is currently an employee at Sanken Power Systems, where she works as an accountant.

"I couldn't believe it at first because I had found the advanced tax syllabus really challenging and had to study incredibly long hours to feel ready to take the exam," said Ms James.

Adrian Labaton, a tutor, added: "We were all absolutely delighted to hear of Sally's success - all of her hard work paid off and she fully deserves this recognition."

Ms James is currently working towards certification from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, an organisation established in 1904 and headquartered in London.
