Report highlights 'work rage' increase

3 March 2008 17:01

Employees are increasingly suffering from a condition known as work rage, it has been claimed.

According to the results of a study by Peninsula, a firm specialising in employment law, out of every five employees, four admitted to losing control of their temper while at work.

The report highlighted the need to question whether instances of workplace rage are caused by relationships with colleagues, or by stress.

Work rage was defined as anger manifesting itself in the form of shouting or being abusive towards other colleagues.

"If you are one of those people who throw their BlackBerry at the wall because you are frustrated at work, or snap at a co-worker while discussing how much you hate your job, then you are not alone", said Deb Gibbons, a representative from Peninsula.

Peninsula's results were obtained from a study of 1,200 employees.

Stress can be managed through the utilisation of a number of different techniques, including exercise and meditation.
