New mums 'not supported on return to work'

Less than half of the UK's employees agree that their company does enough to help new mums back into the workplace, a new survey has revealed.
The research by Monster and reported by onrec.com found that while 17 per cent of respondents thought their employers did everything possible to welcome back new mothers after maternity leave, a fifth said they did not.
In addition, 36 per cent said that not only did their company not encourage returning mums but they would rather employ someone without this type of commitment.
Julian Acquari, managing director of Monster UK, said women should not be perceived as having a limited career if they plan to have children.
"Many women look forward to rejoining the work force, not to mention that raising a child can be expensive and many new mothers still need to work to provide the vital added income," he explained.
Interim jobs for new mums who want a change of career or do not feel like they have been adequately supported by their previous employer could be a wise move for those looking at possible options.
