Warning issued over vocational degrees

Speaking in relation to the increasingly competitive market for post-university recruitment, a representative from Graduate Prospects has warned that career success is not guaranteed when one is in possession of a vocational degree.
Mike Hill, the chief executive of Graduate Prospects, an organisation established in 1972, has warned that the job market for graduates is becoming increasingly competitive and that success comes from an individual deciding which career path to follow.
"It's not so much the degree discipline you undertake which dictates how successful or not you are when you come to look for work after you graduate," said Mr Hill.
Mr Hill also noted that those with vocational qualifications, who still have not taken the necessary steps to succeed, could find themselves in a worse position than those with non-vocational qualifications.
However, Mr Hill stressed that applying for vacancies during the final year of a degree programme is not of critical importance.
