REC highlights benefits of temping

11 April 2008 13:52

The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has highlighted a number of benefits associated with temporary employment.

According to the director of external relations at the REC Tom Hadley, not only is the market for temporary employment currently performing well, but this type of employment can also act as an access point into the workplace for those seeking jobs.

Indeed, Mr Hadley goes further, nothing that temping can also help a potential employee improve their skills.

"The temp market is actually very strong at the moment. It helps you to get into a workplace and this can sometimes lead to permanent employment," said Mr Hadley.

"You might not want to temp for a long time but it is certainly a starting option."

The findings of the Recruitment Industry Survey identified March 2008 as the month when demand levels for temporary employees increased.

Established in 2000, the REC was created following the merging of the Institute of Employment Consultants and the Federation of Recruitment and Employment Services.
