Public sector urged to go online for recruits

2 May 2008 17:33

Online recruitment may be the way of the future for business development jobs, following advice for public sector talent-seekers to get connected.

Online talent management specialist JGP asserts that traditional media advertising is rapidly being taken over by its low-cost online equivalent - meaning those that fail to embrace it may be missing out on the cream of the recruitment crop, OnRec reports.

Co-founder Richard Tyrie told the website: "Employers are going to have to revolutionise the way they manage and recruit personnel, using channels like online recruitment […] if they are to attract and maintain sufficient numbers of quality staff."

He added that company spending on internet advertising rose 40 per cent in 2007, demonstrating that more companies than ever are using online recruitment in place of the more expensive, administration-heavy paper equivalent.

JGP was established in 1999 and since then has provided web-based talent management services to over 1,000 public sector employers in the UK.
