Grievance code published by Acas

6 May 2008 15:37

Employment reconciliation service Acas has published a revised code of practice on discipline and grievance for public consultation.

The revised version, which is much shorter than the existing code, absorbs the changes being made to workplace dispute resolution by the employment bill, such as the removal of the statutory dismissal and discipline procedures.

According to Acas, the aim of the code is to encourage businesses and individuals to resolve disputes internally, thereby saving money and time.

Pat McFadden, minister for employment relations, said the new code is a "key element" in the government's plan to "streamline and simplify the dispute resolution system to the benefit of employers and employees".

"It will complement the removal of statutory measures by establishing flexible, principles-based guidance to help resolve disputes early."

Last week, Acas relaunched its flagship website, which now includes new features for HR professionals and regional pages.ADNFCR-1129-ID-18580971-ADNFCR
