New 'dishonest' database launched

9 May 2008 17:31

A new database that contains details of employees who are deemed to have behaved dishonestly will be shared by businesses across the country, it has emerged.

The system will allow companies to access information relating to a particular individual's record of non-criminal - but damaging activities.

Dubbed the National Staff Dismissal Register, the database has been established largely as a result of the efforts of the Action Against Business Crime partnership between the Home Office and the British Retail Consortium.

According to a report from Personnel Today, some of the most prominent names on the high street have come out in support of the scheme, including HMV, Selfridges and the human resource firm Reed.

Meanwhile, a report form the BBC recently suggested that one in three CVs received by employers contains dishonest information.
