Accountancy firm launches new code of conduct

Financial firm KPMG has launched a new code of conduct for its suppliers, which encompasses a range of ethical and environmental principles.
The code also deals with aspects of employee fairness and environmental issues and is designed to be part of the firm's sustainable procurement programme.
KPMG, which is the first in the UK finance sector to implement such a code, has written to its contract suppliers to ask them to agree to the code of conduct, which the firm has been "embedding" into its organisational structure over recent years.
Mark Powderham, head of procurement at KPMG, said: "Bought-in goods and services are critical to the achievement of our corporate social responsibility and diversity objectives and as such, the logical next step is to integrate our suppliers and contractors within our approach."
A recent survey conducted by the firm found that 50 per cent of global power and utility companies feared the risk of a "bubble" in the renewable energy industry.
