Recognising characteristics can make 'top employees'

Recognising your individual strengths can ensure that you are getting ahead in the workplace.

That is according to Fifth Dimension, which has suggested that the same qualities which make a person a gifted athlete can also make for top employees in a variety of areas, such as direct marketing jobs, reports website OnRec.

Ivor Smith from the company, works with businesses to increase employee confidence, is a strong believer in the power of recognising personal strengths.

He told the website that being able to recognise your own personality strengths and how you fit into the team is a "valuable tool" and can really put you head and shoulders above the rest.

"It can also help you develop your talents in different areas by learning from the accomplishments, and mistakes, of others," he continued.

Some of the various personalities range from weightlifter, who is committed and hardworking, to hurdler who takes on new challenges head on and at speed.

This follows a government report published last week which examined the recruitment trends of ethnic minority, disabled and females managers in order to increase diversity in the workplace.
