Detailed achievements a 'must-have' for CVs

A large number of employers would not hire job applicants who failed to list their previous workplace accomplishments on their CVs, a new study has indicated.

According to a poll conducted by iProfile.org, over 70 per cent of respondents said that they would not ask someone in for an interview if they did not list their past achievements, Online Recruitment reported.

In addition, more than 50 per cent of those employers questioned said that if someone who applied for a job made the effort to present an accurate and full CV then they could potentially be able to negotiate a higher starting salary.

However, the research also revealed that many prospective employees list general responsibilities rather than their own achievements on their CVs.

Commenting on the findings, CV specialist Karl Gregory said it was important to raise awareness about listing personal accomplishments in the workplace.

He explained: "Addressing this issue could significantly boost people's chances of getting through to the interview stage, as well as getting the salary they deserve."

The news may benefit London recruiters looking to further assist candidates with getting the right job for them.

iProfile.org is an online CV service where jobseekers can list their CV in a standardised format for the benefit of prospective employers, including recruiters in London and other parts of the country.
