15 July 2008 17:45

In news that may be of interest for those with accountancy jobs in London or people looking to enter the sector, the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) has issued its latest progress and planning report.

The FRC notes that in the past quarter it has issued a revised version of the combined code on corporate governance and discussion papers on the monitoring and scrutiny of actuarial work.

In the current quarter it plans to make further progress on the disciplinary and investigation scheme for accountants and publish a conceptual framework for actuarial standards.

Paul Boyle, chief executive of the council, said: "This is the latest of our quarterly reports which is structured around the strategic framework we published in April 2007 and the major risks to confidence in corporate reporting and governance."

He added the FRC had completed a number of projects for last year and has made progress on its plans for the 2008.

Last week, the FRC announced the appointment of Dame Barbara Mills as the chair of its professional oversight board and as an executive director of the council.
