Graduates from the financial sector such as those looking for
hedge fund jobs or
jobs in credit control are facing difficulties in the current economic climate, it has been claimed.
With economic problems having a pronounced effect on the financial sector, those applying for
accountancy jobs in London will be having problems, the Higher Education Careers Services Unit said.
Dr Charlie Ball, chief researcher at the unit, said: "Unfortunately, because the finance industry are generally the sort of people who tend to report on the economy, they are very caught up in themselves and have a tendency to report the situation as being very serious."
He added that the financial sector is an important graduate employer in the UK.
Government statistics reveal a fifth of all jobs in the UK are now found in the financial and business services sector, compared to a tenth according to figures from 1981.
