Graduates from top universities 'less likely to lie on CVs'

London recruiters may be unsurprised to discover graduates from the top universities in the UK are less likely to embellish details on their CV to land a top job.
A survey from pre-employment screening company Powerchex found 43 per cent of applicants from the lowest ranking universities in the UK would lie on their application for a job, compared to 14 per cent for the top 20 rated universities.
Furthermore, in news that could help those recruiting for
accountancy jobs in London, jobseekers with maths-based degrees had the lowest rate of falsifications at six per cent, with finance graduates in second place with 13 per cent.
Alexandra Kelly, managing director of Powerchex, said: "What this survey says is that graduates from lesser-known universities may feel they need to alter their background to compete."
Earlier this year, recruitment sales manager Lee McQueen won The Apprentice game show on the BBC, despite being caught out lying on his CV.
