Demand for staff 'falling'

Individuals seeking
jobs in tax or accountancy jobs in London may find it more difficult as new research shows demand for employees is falling in the UK.
The Report on Jobs, from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and KPMG, found that permanent placements fell at the fastest rate since December 2001 in July.
Furthermore, the growth of temporary billings was reported to be the weakest for over five years.
Kevin Green, chief executive of the REC, said: "This is a clear indication that the credit crunch has started to reach the jobs market.
"Business confidence is low and as a result, employers are becoming much more cautious in their approach to recruiting."
He added the balance has shifted in the job market away from candidates, giving employers the upper hand.
The REC and Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development recently published guidance on the relationship between human resources and recruitment agencies.
