FSB 'backs disability legislation'

The Federation of Small Business (FSB) has expressed its support for the introduction of new disability legislation, praising its founding in the concept of reasonable adjustment.
It claims many small businesses - which could include those who provide accountancy jobs in London and elsewhere - will attempt to adjust their premises to help the ten million disabled consumers gain access.
Marc Shoffman, a spokesperson for the FSB, said: "The resources available to small businesses to make changes both for customers and existing and potential employees who are disabled will not be as great as those available to larger companies."
He added that the legislation takes into account the principle of reasonable adjustment connected to resources and availability.
Figures from the Office for National Statistics reveal 19 per cent of people of working age in Great Britain are disabled, while the average gross hourly pay for a disabled employee is £10.31 compared to £11.39 for non-disabled workers.
